SOCIAL SECURITY DISABILITY

Disability Benefit Amounts

Social Security Disability is an insurance benefit that you typically pay for through regular paycheck withholdings or self-employment tax.  The amount of your monthly benefit is based upon your lifetime earnings records.

Social Security forwards you annual statements regarding your work history and estimated disability and retirement benefits. See Sample.   This brochure identifies your estimated disability benefit based upon the number of credit you have in the system. If you do not have this paperwork you may retrieve the information online.
